Preschool Screenings
Speech and language delays affects 5% to 8% of preschool children, often persisting into the school years. Preschool children with speech and language delays may be at increased risk for learning disabilities once they reach school age. Identification of children at risk for developmental delay or related problems may lead to intervention services and family assistance at a young age when chances for improvement are best. This rationale supports preschool screening for speech and language delay, or primary language impairment.
Headway Rehabilitation can provide speech-language and hearing screenings to schools or daycare providers at a discounted rate. We will screen children from 4- to 6-years old in order to ascertain if a communication problem exists and to answer questions regarding speech, language, and hearing concerns.
